Fashionable capes

Female WASPs in NYCanditsboroughs are finally de mode in their capes...relatively speaking ...purchased on a trip long ago to Scotland/Wales/fill-in-the-blank when visiting one's ancestral home. The fashion is set-off with tan hosiery and one's practical black orthopedic shoes which accomodate the tall gangly white-haired woman's large-sized feet. 
The other accoutrement is one's husband in his very practical-when-purchased-50-years-ago trench coat that still fits as one practices austerity and can still wear the same underwear purchased with said trench coat.

Just passed several couples out on a bracing New Year's stroll - très chic.
